When I was commissioned to propose a mural of Count Basie for his hometown of Red Bank, NJ, where I happen to live, I made this watercolor and ink concept painting. I chose a photograph as the source image for its formal power and tonal subtlety, and since it suggests the musician’s stage artistry.

Each giclee print is one of an edition of 500, printed on archival Hahnemuhle paper, signed and numbered by the artist.
