This 1910 ad, painted on the side of a very old 3rd Ave building in Long Branch, New Jersey, was revealed during the demolition of the slightly younger factory building next door. The factory building protected the wooden clapboard wall for over 80 years, preserving the rare Coca-Cola advertisement. Its excavation temporarily graced the neighborhood with a glimpse into Long Branch during the golden age of hand painted advertising. Most ads that survive this many years are “ghost signs”… faded paint partly legible over brick, not nearly as intact as this.
